What does it mean to leave something, someone, or some place behind? Feelings of loss or uncertainty? Feelings of freedom or acceptance?

I began this project because I wanted to have a discussion with my grandmother about the topic of death. I wondered how she felt knowing that she would be leaving her beloved family in her passing, as her parents had left her. These questions began my desire to hear other people’s stories about leaving and loss. These audio pieces explore how leaving changes our relationships, ideas of self, and lives.
